GwL launches winter fundraising appeal on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is here – a global day of generosity – and this year, we are launching our winter fundraising appeal. Your support can help transform the lives of families bereaved by gambling-related suicide.

Recent data released by the Gambling Commission in October 2025 shows that 1.4 million adults in Great Britain are now experiencing “problem gambling.” The Government estimate between 117 and 496 people in England die every year due to gambling-related suicide. Behind each of these numbers is a family living with devastating loss.

At Gambling with Lives, we support bereaved family members across the UK. We provide emotional and practical support, specialist advice, and opportunities for families to meet MPs, local councillors, and other decision-makers – ensuring their loved one’s story drives the urgent change needed to prevent further tragedies.

Here’s what one person we recently supported said:

“When Chris died in January this year, I was completely lost, struggling to understand what had happened. When I first made contact with Gambling with Lives, just a few days after Chris died, they provided immediate support — offering kindness and compassion, but moreover a deep understanding of the additional burdens and complexities surrounding such a tragic and traumatic death.

“Gambling with Lives is one of the few organisations truly tackling gambling-related harm and suicide head-on – supporting those bereaved, raising awareness, and pushing for the change that is so urgently needed.”

In 2025 alone, we supported more than 150 bereaved family members and friends, and demand for our service continues to grow. Many families come to us at the most painful moment of their lives, needing specialist help that isn’t available anywhere else.

This Giving Tuesday, we are asking our supporters and partners to consider donating to our winter appeal.

As a charity, individual donations are vital. They help us provide:

  • Specialist therapy for bereaved families
  • Legal support through inquests
  • Family events, remembrance activities, and peer support
  • Advocacy that pushes for systemic reform to stop gambling-related suicides

Every donation – no matter the size – will make a meaningful difference to families affected by gambling-related suicide. Please donate today.
